The law firm of Williams & Waymire is devoted exclusively to civil litigation in all state and federal courts, both at the trial and appellate levels. The firm’s lawyers represent individuals, businesses, corporations, and local government entities in all types of personal injury and damage claims.
The firm’s attorneys have decades of combined experience representing governments throughout the state of Georgia, both in general liability and in civil rights litigation in federal court, which includes representing the entities and their employees in claims related to police misconduct, prisoner rights, jail conditions, and civil rights violations under 42 U.S.C. § 1983. The growth in metropolitan Atlanta and other areas throughout Georgia over the years has also resulted in a substantial increase in claims arising from road defects and conditions, inverse condemnation, land use, and environmental issues, and the firm’s lawyers have been on the cutting edge of the law in those areas. The firm also handles employment related claims, including claims for discrimination in hiring and promotion, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, and other deprivations of constitutional rights relating to employment matters.
Over the years, the firm’s lawyers have had the opportunity to represent and defend a majority of the local governmental entities in Georgia county governments and/or their officials or employees in litigated matters, including Cobb County, Douglas County, Forsyth County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, Hall County, Henry County, Paulding County and Rockdale County in the metropolitan Atlanta area. The firm’s lawyers have also represented municipalities throughout the State of Georgia, including the cities of Buford, Suwanee and Lawrenceville in Gwinnett County and Clarkston, Decatur, Forest Park, Marietta, Roswell, Covington and Conyers in the metro Atlanta area.
The firm and its lawyers’ client representation has been through direct retention by the governmental entity and by claims agencies handling liability membership pools, such as GIRMA and ACCG-IRMA, and retention by insurance companies. Representative insurance carriers are Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, Georgia Farm Bureau, Lincoln National Insurance Company, Lloyds of London, National American Insurance Company, County Reinsurance, LTD, Generali-U.S. Branch, Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, SAFECO Insurance Company and Trident Insurance Services, Inc. (Argonaut Group). Further, the firm has been retained previously by the United States Attorney’s Office as conflict counsel to represent employees of the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
